nbn™ Smart Places is tailored to enable the connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart infrastructure to non-premises locations. This initiative allows the nbn™ Fibre network to integrate into the surrounding built or natural environment to increase liveability, sustainability and productivity for residents and businesses.
Through the innovative use of data and the latest embedded technology (including digital interfaces and networks, intelligent control, and data management systems), this enables improved outcomes for residents and communities alike. nbn™ Smart Places is designed to enable communities to become smart places themselves by extending the nbn™ fibre network to non-premises locations that require broadband connectivity (such as traffic lights, digital billboards and public Wi-Fi hotspots).
42-24 has multiple redundant connections to both of the nbnTM Points of Interconnect (POI) in Tasmania, providing services to any location served by nbn’s terrestrial network across Tasmania. These POIs are used for both traditional nbnTM Ethernet services and business nbnTM Enterprise Ethernet services and have been engineered to provide the highest level of redundancy available.
