42-24 is gazing upwards to the opportunities of space.
We’re partnering with the University of Tasmania to build a seven-kilometre optic fibre extension that’ll allow the Greenhill Observatory in Tasmania’s midlands to operate a new state-of-the-art 7.3 metre telescope.
The project supports long-term, high-skilled space jobs for Tasmanians. It can also give emergency services better satellite viewing and comms, when dealing with fires, floods and other incidents.
It’s good for local space careers, good for saving lives, and good for giving Tasmanian students and researchers a better foothold in the cosmos.
We visited the Mt Pleasant Observatory near Cambridge this morning, along with the Federal Communications Minister, Paul Fletcher, to celebrate our successful Regional Connectivity Program funding.
